Nevag Compilation Project
In early 90's the parent company of XerXesium Records, X DOT 25 Music was producing World Music albums. Due to its success in the world music genre, many Persian Musicians were submitting their projects for review and release by X DOT 25 Music. There were so many new and great talents that the executives at the record label were baffled how to support such talents. The cost of producing a full album and its promotion was enormous and it was just not possible to release so many albums, no matter how great they were.
The label was looking for a way so these new up & coming musicians be supported and the financial decisions not to over rule their introduction to music lovers all over the world. Thus the Nevag music project was created. This project consisted of a periodic sampler released by X DOT 25 Music containing one song from every musician that the A&R team at X DOT 25 Music voted to be included. So Nevag 1995 came to life under the name of: A Compilation of World Music by Contemporary Persian Artists.
NEVAG is the result of X DOT 25 Music searching for the best world music artists and supporting up and coming talents. After listening to many hours of music from many different musicians, we chose these 13 songs to present on this collection.
This album was the first in a series of forthcoming projects which will be published under the title of Nevag. Nevag means "song" in the Pahlavi language, a language of pre-Islamic Persia. The Nevag Music Compilation is designed to introduce talented amateur musicians to the public and give them the necessary exposure to open doors in the music industry and to encourage their continued creativity. Dozens of songs were submitted to X DOT 25 in 1995, and the thirteen presented in this collection were chosen on their artistic merit by our A&R staff as the most outstanding that would work as a whole to produce a cohesive album.
This album influence the direction of the Persian music to come. It was a fresh sound with fresh musicians. Vazhe was one of the first Persian Groups ever producing Persian Rap Music (Song: Abejo Khoraan). Many others are prominent musicians today, including, Afshin, Parisa Vaaleh, Faranak Shahroozi, Mahvash Azhir, Farhad Bahrami and more.
